ABDM registration for homeopathy doctors

ABDM Registration for Homeopathy Doctors: HPR, HFR and ABHA Explained (2026 Guide)

Registered homoeopathic practitioners can enrol in the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). Enrolment is voluntary and free, and it does not replace your State Council or Central Register registration. Your clinic registers separately in the Health Facility Registry (HFR), and patients create their own ABHA.

What is ABDM?

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is India’s national digital health programme, run by the National Health Authority (NHA). It links patients, professionals and facilities through digital IDs, verified registries and consent-based sharing of health records.

For a homeopathy clinic, three building blocks matter.

RegistryWho it is forWhat you getWhere
HPR (Healthcare Professionals Registry)The individual doctorA Healthcare Professional IDhpr.abdm.gov.in
HFR (Health Facility Registry)The clinic or hospitalA facility IDhfr.abdm.gov.in
ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account)The patientAn ABHA number and an ABHA address such as name@abdmabha.abdm.gov.in

Does HPR include homeopathy doctors?

Yes. HPR is a registry of verified practitioners from modern and traditional systems of medicine, and homoeopathy is one of the systems it covers, alongside allopathy, dentistry, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Sowa-Rigpa. When the registry was announced in 2022, NHA said it was collating practitioner data with regulators including the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH).

Whether you practise in Chandigarh, Mohali, Ludhiana or anywhere else in India, the process is the same.

How to register in HPR

NHA describes enrolment in three steps:

  1. Generate your Healthcare Professional ID using Aadhaar or another KYC method.
  2. Fill the registration form with your personal, registration, academic and work details.
  3. Wait for verification. At launch, NHA said identity would be authenticated through UIDAI and registration details verified by the relevant council.

Keep these handy before you start: your State Council or Central Register registration number and certificate, your BHMS or MD (Hom.) certificates, and your clinic address.

Registering your clinic in HFR

HFR is a verified national directory of public and private health facilities. An authorised person for the clinic registers it on the HFR portal. ABDM’s public dashboard reports registered facilities by system of medicine, with homeopathy listed as its own category.

If you run a solo practice, you will usually need both: an HPR ID for yourself and an HFR ID for the clinic.

What ABHA means for your patients

ABHA belongs to the patient. A patient can create one on the ABHA website or app using Aadhaar or a driving licence, or get help at a participating government facility or Common Service Centre. With an ABHA, a patient can link records from different providers and choose who sees them.

The decision to create or link an ABHA should always be the patient’s own. Explain what it is and let them choose.

Why it matters for a homeopathy practice

Verified identity. Patients and other providers can confirm you are a registered practitioner.

Digital care. NHA notes that verified professionals can treat patients remotely and review digital health records. This is a benefit of joining, not a precondition for teleconsultation.

Continuity of care. When a patient consents, records from other providers can be shared with you. This helps when a patient on long-term homeopathic treatment also sees other doctors.

What ABDM does not do

It is not a licence to practise. Your State Council or Central Register registration remains the legal basis of your practice.

It is not mandatory for professionals. HPR enrolment is voluntary.

It does not make your clinic compliant with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act. You remain responsible for the patient data you hold. Read our guide: The DPDP Act and Your Homeopathy Clinic.

It does not connect your records by itself. Sharing records through ABDM needs clinic software that has integrated with ABDM. Ask your vendor whether they are a registered ABDM integrator and which features are live.

Quick checklist

  • Create your HPR ID and submit the registration form.
  • Register your clinic in HFR.
  • Keep your council registration number on prescriptions (required on teleconsultation prescriptions under the homoeopathy telemedicine guidelines).
  • Prepare a one-line explanation of ABHA for patients who ask.
  • Ask your software vendor about ABDM integration status, in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Is HPR registration mandatory for homeopathy doctors?

No. NHA states that enrolling in HPR is voluntary.

Is there a fee for HPR registration?

No. NHA states there is no fee to register or to generate a Healthcare Professional ID.

Does HPR replace my State Council registration?

No. NHA states that HPR does not replace registration issued by the respective councils.

Can a homeopathy clinic register in HFR?

Yes. HFR covers public and private facilities, and ABDM reports homeopathy facilities as a separate category.

What is the difference between an ABHA number and an ABHA address?

The ABHA number is the patient’s unique health ID. The ABHA address is a username-style handle, such as name@abdm, used to manage and share records.
